The law of conservation of energy says that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. The energy is transferred from one body to another with some loss of heat. The concept has been held true over the years. The main problem faced now is the depletion of natural resources. The natural resources include coal and petroleum which is used for powering electricity and also motor vehicles. The electricity generated by burning coal and then running turbines. The petroleum is extracted from the earth and is then distilled to get petrol or gasoline. The gasoline is burnt inside the internal combustion engines of the vehicles for propelling the vehicle. The resources are now becoming deficit to meet the surging needs and an alternative is being sought after. The wind, solar and water energy are being tapped for powering the world. The nuclear fuels are also being widely used for the same purpose. Hence more research should be done for getting alternatives and to save the depleting resources. There are also researches conducted on hydrogen for becoming an efficient alternate source of fuel. The solar energy is converted to electricity by means of solar cells. The windmills help in converting wind energy to electrical energy. Turbine and hydro power dams are used for producing electricity from water.
